Buffalo News article on Humanitarian Parole denials at Buffalo Federal Detention Facility quotes Matthew Borowski

Phil Fairbanks at the Buffalo News is covering an important lawsuit against federal immigration authorities that has been filed by the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU).

A lawsuit filed by the NYCLU claims that, under the Trump administration, immigration authorities at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility have "stopped a long-standing practice of granting parole to asylum seekers who are not considered a danger to the community and have a credible chance of being granted asylum."

"A lot of these people have suffered trauma in the past," said Matthew K. Borowski, a Buffalo immigration lawyer. "And now, they're languishing in jail."
